On the evening of 20 September 2017, the Gmunden police was informed by the Landespflegeheim about this missing case. The 56-year-old resident left the nursing home around 7:15 pm. He left his walker in the entrance area outside.
25 men from the Gmunden fire brigade, four policemen from Gmunden and two policemen with their dogs were involved in the search. Police dog "Benjo" finally found the missing person around 22:20 o'clock about 1.5 km away from the nursing home, exhausted but unimpeded sitting on a forest path. I was informed by the search group that had requested my assistance that the child is doing OK but has a long road ahead . The mother of the child had one request and that was her child can meet the K9 that helped find her once they are fully healed.
Without the Kocher method I would have been no use on this case and this young child may have been a recovery and not a rescue.
Thank you to my INBTI family for helping fill my toolbox!
Of their search and success, the handler said "The Glory goes to God and The Kocher method, I'm just a simple K9 handler."
Thank you for all the hard work and training you have put forward to train a life saving K9!!
