Congratulations to INBTI Assistant Instructor Patti Elfreth and fellow team members of Keystone K9s SAR on receiving the Sofia Silva life saving award! In March 2016 Patti and K9 Clyde trailed a missing elderly man in freezing conditions to an enclosed fence area. Team members then climbed into the area to search and located the subject. With no jacket or shoes, it was very unlikely the man would have survived through the night. Congratulations all!
SUCCESSFUL FIND!

INBTI Assistant Instructor Patti Elfreth and K9 Clyde along with team members of Keystone K9s SAR successfully located a missing elderly man!! Great job to Patti, Clyde and Keystone SAR! A man is alive and home with loved ones because of your passion, your selflessness, and your dedication to training!
Please take the time to read synopsis below:
At 10:00pm members of Keystone K9s Search and Rescue began a search for a 74 yr old man with dementia missing from his home approx 7hrs. K9 Clyde was given scent from a baseball cap and he trailed through the neighborhood making several stops at the front doors of homes. In speaking with the residents it was revealed that the missing man had been wandering the neighborhood approaching various homes just prior to his disappearance.
Clyde continued to trail through an open grassy area, through a wood line and onto a major highway. He continued across the highway, then along the highway before crossing the highway again to follow along a fence surrounding a department of transportation storage lot. Clyde was persistent in getting through a locked gate in the fence and gave a clear proximity alert. Unable to easily get the dog into the fenced area, two team members entered from the opposite side of the lot and located the gentleman approx. 100ft from the gate.
When located, the man was not wearing any outerwear or shoes, was extremely cold and required medical attention. As temperatures had dropped below freezing it is very unlikely that the gentleman would have survived the night if he remained in that location. In the search we covered approx. 3 miles in under an hour and a half.
